North Carolina Museum of Art
Highlights include exhibits from Africa, Oceania, Ancient Europe, and the America’s, as well as historical and contemporary US works, including southern folk art. The large surrounding park houses several large installations and sculptures, as well as the Joseph M. Bryan, Jr. Theater.
North Carolina Museum of History and the Sports Hall of Fame
Exhibits present the region’s history from the time the State was formed; long-term displays focus on folk life, healing systems, and struggles during the Civil War. The North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame celebrates the region’s sports history; members include Arnold Palmer, Dean Smith and Richard Petty.
Exploris Museum
This state-of-the-art interactive museum encourages visitors to interact with different cultures and explore the nature of their connections to one another. An Imax theater offers exciting and educational films.
The African American Cultural Complex
Has excellent exhibits on African American history and the contributions African Americans have made to America’s evolving culture; a replica of the Amistad slave ship is on display and is the site of a powerful yearly drama about its history.
North Carolina Museum of Natural History
Evocative walk-through environments are complimented by the inclusion of live animals in exciting and involving exhibits on North Carolina’s varied geography, geology, flora, and fauna.
North Carolina Symphony
The symphony performs about 60 concerts a year in the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and Cary area; many concerts are given free to schoolchildren throughout the state as part of the orchestra’s wide-ranging educational program. The Symphony also sponsors the Triangle Youth Philharmonic.
Page Walker Arts and History Center
This former hotel, built in 1868, is now used as an arts and history center and offers classes, events, and receptions for the arts community of Cary.
Amphitheatre at Regency Park
This exquisitely designed, glass roofed amphitheatre sits by Symphony Lake, surrounded by beautiful woods. Hosting concerts and movies, the theater is also the summer home of the North Carolina Symphony, which presents its annual Summerfest Music Series every June and July.
Raleigh Convention Center
The Triangle area's foremost convention, trade show, and theater complex, the center includes a large, well designed convention center, Memorial Auditorium (which hosts music, dance, comedy, the Fletcher Opera Center, and Broadway touring productions), and the superb BTI Center for the Performing Arts.
Applause! Cary Youth Theatre
The theater offers a full range of classes and programs for young people and presents two productions yearly.
